Kill crazy gangsters rule Pop City. Visitors beware. Clown gangsters have so thoroughly corrupted everything here, that Pop City hardly looks like the promising, bustling metropolis described by The Times as “America’s future” just ten years ago. 

Today Pop City is not much more than a swill of gilded trappings in a country that most of the residents commonly call “Candyland”. This is the heart of the criminal underworld, in a place called the United States of America, on some parallel earth in an alternate universe. 

Aside from the most obvious differences, this version of America is much like our own. And aside from some glaring contradictions, the people on this world share our protestant work ethic, our fear of God, and our basic entrepreneurialism. 

But unlike on our world, here, free enterprise is just another name for a racket and democracy has given way to the crime syndicate. Perhaps an argument can be made that the people of Pop City are much better off, but the evidence strongly suggests otherwise. Gangster clowns kill at will.

With cute, colorful names like “Dum Dums”, “Airheads”, and “Lemonheads”, the gangsters terrorize the locals and pay off the cops, all while living in relative peace. And it can be argued that the only things these gangsters fear are the FBI, the end of football season, and a low supply of heroin.

Some may question organized crime’s power, but everybody knows that nothing goes down in Pop City or anywhere in Candyland without the consent of the crime syndicate. No drug deals, no gambling, no robberies, no heists, nothing. The syndicate runs the whole show.

Without a doubt, the gangsters on this world are ruthless pigs, but without the structure that the crime syndicate provides, the kill crazy gangsters would have no code to live by. And they would respect nothing, not even each other. 

So among other things, the crime syndicate generally prevents gangster beefs from devolving into all out wars.  And the last thing any gangster in Pop City needs right now is another war. But a war is coming, the largest war Pop City or Candyland has ever seen. And it all starts in the fabled King James Pool Hall #1.
